MANDOLIN SPRING

A Letter to Listeners:

Mandolin Spring is a collaboration between MVI and the brilliant virtuoso mandolinist, Mike Marshall. Released on streaming platforms on 10/29/24 and on YouTube on 11/1/24, the piece was written by Mark Vickness and Mike Marshall. Recorded at Opus in Berkeley in September, 2024, Mandolin Spring was engineered and mixed by Dan Feiszli and mastered by Adam Ayan, Ayan Mastering.

While Mark has a lifetime of experience with all things guitar, his interest in the mandolin has peaked more recently as a result of his exposure to the music of Chris Thile. This led to the desire to write a piece for MVI which would feature a virtuoso mandolin soloist. For that, MVI turned to three-time Grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist, Mike Marshall. It was a perfect fit and an absolute joy to work with Mike! Apparently, Mike felt the same: “Mark and MVI are all wonderful, expressive pros. It was a joy to work with them on Mandolin Spring!”
